This is the biggest Manny Challenge of the year.

We’re putting all of the Orange County student sections on notice … for the rest of this season!

We have just five weeks left before we announce the 2019 OCVarsity Football Student Section Rankings.

So we’ve put together our first rough draft of the O.C. Top 25 — that’s all it is, a rough draft — for all of the sections to see where they stand at this point in the season.

Some sections are going realize they need to step it up. And some student sections are going to wonder why they aren’t listed at all.

Sometimes the truth hurts, folks. But don’t panic, there are still two Fridays left in the regular season and then the playoffs start. (Hopefully your team will be going to the playoffs.)

I’ll give you some important advice: Put photos and videos of your section on social media with the hashtag #ocvfans. You can also send all of your student section craze to me on Twitter (@MAlvarez02) or on Instagram (@mannya2).

Now here is my rough draft of the O.C. Top 25 Football Student Sections. (The final rankings will come out before the CIF-SS Finals.)

  1. Los Alamitos Locos
  2. Servite Asylum
  3. Tesoro Titan Army
  4. Mission Viejo Diablo Inferno
  5. Villa Park Black Pack
  6. JSerra Pride
  7. Corona del Mar Kings Krew
  8. Edison MESS
  9. Santa Margarita Eagles Nest
  10. San Clemente Loud Crowd
  11. San Juan Hills Stampede
  12. Dana Hills Pod Squad
  13. Capistrano Valley Cage
  14. El Modena Rowdy Rooters
  15. Trabuco Hills Stampede
  16. Foothill Dungeon
  17. El Dorado Hawks Nest
  18. St. Margaret’s Kitchen
  19. Newport Harbor Tarpit
  20. Irvine Frontier
  21. Mater Dei Den
  22. Portola Dawgpound
  23. Aliso Niguel Loud Crowd
  24. Northwood Den
  25. Esperanza Hut

Let’s see who steps up and shakes up this list up before it becomes final next month.

Now back to our usual Manny Challenge for the Week 9 games.

Tustin Barn: Tustin is in a must-win situation in Thursday’s game against Cypress. The Tillers need a win to improve their playoff chances, but they are taking on the undefeated Centurions.

The Barn needs to show up for this one, but it’s hard to know what the Barn will do. They don’t share their school spirit on social media as much as they should.

This is the time for the Barn to go crazy for their Tillers — and let us know about it.

That or keep eating hay!

Mission Viejo Diablo Inferno: The Inferno has done a fantastic job this year in the stands and on social media, but they keep falling short of being named the OCVarsity Student Section of the Week.

Well, it’s time to turn it up — all the way up.

We expect an epic battle Friday night when Mission Viejo and the Diablo Inferno battle San Clemente and the Loud Crowd with the South Coast League title on the line.

The Diablos want revenge after losing to the Tritons last year, and the Inferno knows that.

So no disappointments this week, Diablo Inferno — not on the field and not in the stands.

Spit that hot fire Diablos!

Newport Harbor Tarpit: Forget the Manny Challenge, the Tarpit needs the Teran Challenge.

The Tarpit had something great going this season, but as soon as they won the OCVarsity Student Section of the Week award … they disappeared.

The season isn’t over, Tarpit. Get back out there.

I noticed Newport Harbor sports analyst Teran Rodriguez was not happy with the Tarpit’s recent no-shows.

The Tarpit needs to get it going again for the Battle of the Bay game against Corona del Mar on Friday.

Not only does the Tarpit need to show up and support the Sailors, but they can’t let the Corona del Mar Kings Krew control their home — and that’s a student section that can do it.

It’s time for the Tarpit to take the Manny, err, I mean the Teran Challenge!

Mater Dei Den: The Den has improved their social media game and has shown some consistency, but the Monarchs take on their toughest opponent this year on Friday night.

Mater Dei will travel to St. John Bosco with just the national championship on the line.

The Den will have to travel for this one, which could be tough since the game is sold out. But the Den needs to find a way to be there to rattle the Braves, because we know the Bosco Tribe will look to rattle Mater Dei.

Time to go all out and be Road Warriors on Friday.

Fountain Valley Kingdom: We noticed the Kingdom earlier in the season and we assume they are still out there in the stands. They don’t post photos or videos anymore, so if you noticed my rough draft rankings, the Kingdom is nowhere to be found.

With the Fountain Valley playing Edison on Friday in the Battle for the Bell, the Barons will need a boost.

It’s time for the Kingdom to go crazy. If they don’t, it might get messy on the field and in the visiting stands with the Edison MESS.

Take the clean victory and show off your school spirit on Twitter!
