Girls tennis preview: Top five Orange County teams to watch in 2017

The Register’s Orange County girls tennis preview:

TOP FIVE TEAMS TO WATCH

1.Corona del Mar: Loaded Sea Kings return co-player of the year Danielle Willson and added standout transfers Annika Bassey and Kristina Evloeva.

2. University: The Trojans, Division 1 semifinalists in 2016, recently edged Dana Hills on a tiebreaker after the teams tied sets, 9-9, and games, 74-74.

3. Dana Hills: The defending South Coast League co-champions are led by rising junior Courtney Swift, who recently beat University ace Cami Brown, 6-2.

4. San Clemente: The Tritons and Utah commit Lindsay Hung shared the South Coast League crown with Dana Hills last season.

5. Northwood: Beckman coach Nick Friendt calls the Pacific Coast the “SEC of high school tennis.” The Timberwolves are ranked eighth in Division 1 and were solid in a loss against Dana Hills.
