Laguna Beach power outage Sunday night affects nearly 4,000 customers

Nearly 4,000 Southern California Edison customers in Laguna Beach were without power on Sunday evening, Oct. 24, said a company spokesman.

The outage was reported at 8:47 p.m. and impacted 3,972 customers, said Ben Gallagher, spokesman for SCE. The outage affected areas between Laguna Canyon Road to the north, South Coast Highway to the south, Highlands Avenue to the east and Glenneyre Street to the west, Gallagher said.

Gallagher said there were initial reports of possible equipment failure, however, crews were still on scene to confirm the cause. The cause was not determined as of late Sunday evening.

There was no estimated time of restoration as of Sunday evening, Gallagher said.

Sunday’s outage in the area followed another weekend outage on Saturday; and one last month.
